Cecilia Muniz, M.S.W., LCSW (89348) - Therapist
Cecilia graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s degree and from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Master’s degree in Social Welfare. She has spent over 20 years specializing in mental and behavioral health with youth, adults, and families. Cecilia is a licensed clinician who has advanced training in trauma-focus (TF and TF-CBT) and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). Prior to joining the Amend team, Cecilia oversaw a county-wide mental health services programs and has served as the Director of a residential treatment facility focused on the needs of individuals impacted by depression, anxiety, trauma and other co-occurring issues. Cecilia has received multiple honors for her work including a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition and a Fellowship from the University of California Los Angeles.
In addition to providing leadership and clinical oversight at Amend Treatment, Cecilia is a faculty member at Mount Saint Mary’s Graduate Psychology Department and sits on the Board of Directors for a non-profit organization which addresses mental and behavioral health issues related to women. She continues to provide direct clinical care as well as lectures and workshops on effective therapeutic practices in working with youth, adults, and families who are struggling with issues ranging from negative coping styles (such as self-harming behaviors, substance misuse and addiction, social withdrawal and internet dependency) to learning to thrive while managing serious mental health issues. Cecilia values culturally responsive approaches to the treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma disorders and combines evidence-based practices with alternative therapies. Cecilia is a partner in recovery to her clients and draws on her experiences as a parent, friend, small business woman, world traveler, and advocate for authentic personal, interpersonal, and familial wellness.
